Joe grew up in the Portland Metro Area and started his career with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. In January of 2000, Joe joined the Bend Police Department and worked there until May 30 of 2020. He enjoyed many aspects of patrol work and serving the citizens of his community.

Joe joined the Black Butte Ranch Police Department in June of 2020. He enjoys living closer to where he lives, in the Sister's community, and continuing to work with others serving his community. Joe has lived in the Sisters community for the last 13 years. When off duty, Joe spends much of his time with his dogs and family hiking through the many trails in the Three Sisters Wilderness.
