Officer Cunningham joined the Black Butte Police Department in March of 2020. Craig grew up in Oregon and attended Mt. Hood Community College and Portland State University. Craig was with Woodburn PD until he was hired by the Marion County Sheriff's Office in 1997. Craig spent 22 years with MCSO. During his time with MCSO, he held positions as a senior deputy, motor deputy, traffic crash reconstructionist and then as a detective with the Street Crimes Unit. He was promoted to the Traffic Team as Sergeant in 2010, and moved to supervision of the Criminal Investigations Unit, Street Crimes Unit, Computer Forensics Unit & Evidence Unit in 2015.

After 32 years of service, he retired and moved to Central Oregon in 2019. Craig still had a desire to serve his fellow Oregonians. In March of 2020 joined BBRPD as a police officer. When not on duty, he enjoys hiking, kayaking, snow shoeing and golfing. ​
